The SSCG meeting was held at St Saviour's Church Hall, Coalpit Heath on a wet and windy evening in June 2012.  Although the weather kept many people away the meeting covered a wide range of topics.

Issues discussed included:
  • Green Dog Walkers Scheme.  Dave Hockey described the scheme and mentioned that other local parishes, eg Westerleigh had expressed an interest.
  • Community Speed Watch (CSW) and speeding.  A meeting was held to discuss how CSW groups could work better with South Glos Council and local police to address speeding hotspots.  Better admin and information sharing was agreed.  Following pressure from local residents, the 30mph speed limit in Latteridge Road has been extended. CSW Stickers and signs for lampposts have been ordered.
  • Anti Social Behaviour (ASB). Concern expressed about ASB in Harris Barton at the previous meeting does not show up in police records as being a persistent problem though police are aware of isolated incidents.  People are encouraged to report incidents so that the police can target problem areas.
  • Crossing Patrol.  A new Crossing Patrol has been set up on Park Lane near the Live and Let Live pub.
  • Good Neighbours Scheme.  The Good Neighbours Scheme was described and the meeting voted to support the funding request.
  • Active for Life.   The meeting voted to support funding for the rugby club to help get young people involved in physical activity at an early stage.
The next meeting will take place on 19 September 2012 at Westerleigh Village Hall when the topics for discussion will include Neighbourhood Watch.  Everyone is invted to attend.
