Dick King-Smith themed scarecrow competition

Frampton Cotterell’s 5th Annual Scarecrow Trail will take place at October half term from:

27th October 2019 to 2nd November

with a Grand Prize Giving (plus refreshments) for the best scarecrow on:

2nd November at the Brockeridge Centre at 11.00 a.m.

The theme this year is characters from the stories of Dick King-Smith, the well known writer of stories for children. He was the farmer at Woodlands Farm, Coalpit Heath, from 1948 until 1961. He wrote lots of fun stories, many mentioning local spots such as Blackberry Brake. His most famous stories are probably “The Sheep Pig”, made into the film Babe, and “The Fox Busters”.

Village Action will be organising a a Guided Walk round all the entries on:

Tuesday 29 October 2019, at 10.30 am,
starting from opposite the GingerBread Cafe, Church Rd.

There may also be a guided walk on the Saturday 2 Nov 2019 at 2pm.

Last year there were thirty entries, let’s hope for more this year!
