Successful Fly Tipping Prosecution

Partners of a Bristol-based rubbish clearance firm have been sentenced to six months in prison after being found guilty of fly-tipping household waste in South Gloucestershire on two separate occasions.

They were arrested in April this year following a joint operation with Avon & Somerset Police and officers from South Gloucestershire Council’s envirocrime team.

Cllr Claire Young, Chair of Communities Committee, said: “Fly-tipping is a criminal activity and we take a zero tolerance approach to this sort of illegal behaviour. This is the eighth successful prosecution we have secured this year which sends out a clear message: if you fly-tip rubbish in South Gloucestershire, you can expect to be caught and prosecuted.”

SGC's message on preventing fly-tipping is simple – if you see it, report it. You can do so by calling the Street Care helpdesk on 01454 868000, email or visit
