Supported Lodgings is a scheme run by 1625 Independent People for South Glos council. It involves hosting a 16-25 year old who is in Education, Employment and Training and helping them towards independence.

We are looking for people who live in South Glos who have a spare room which they might be willing to host a young person in for 6 months to 2 years. You would be paid a weekly allowance of £160 plus £15 for the young person and would be expected to supported the young person with things like budgeting/ cooking/ general household skills on the young person’s journey to independence.

The profile of a young person we are accepting for the scheme is young people who are already in Education, Employment and Training and who have lower support needs (i.e. no serious ill mental health, no history of substance misuse) as we feel that these young people will benefit most from the home environment and we are not expecting hosts to be support workers.
Support for the hosts is provided by 1625ip's Supported Lodgings Coordinator. Hosts are supported to build a trusting relationship with the young person, set and maintain positive boundaries, and encourage young people to claim their independence. There is no expectation to quit your day job, all we ask is that you are willing to  provide a safe space and a room. Owning your own home is not a requirement, although you will need to get the agreement of your accommodation provider/ landlord to offer the space.
For more information, please see the job advert on Voscur which has further info, including how to apply to be a host. If you would like any further information about Supported Lodgings and how it works then please contact Duncan on 0117 969 5763 or email
