Youth Council - a creative and rewarding role for the right person!

In the Frampton Cotterell Parish Plan there is significant support amongst young people in the village for a Youth Council to represent their views in decision making in the village.  This is doubly important now when funding for youth services by South Gloucestershire Council is under threat and available funding needs to be focussed on meeting the needs of young people in the community.

Youth Councils enable Young People to:
  • Voice their concerns
  • Help to provide facilities for young people by working in partnership with the Parish Council and others
  • Be empowered to take decisions and action to improve their local community.
Youth Councils enable Local Councils to:
  • Truly represent the whole of the community they live in
  • Become more vibrant, modern and dynamic
  • Encourage young people to vote and become councillors when they are old enough
  • Improve services to young people
Youth Councils enable the Local Community to:
  • Become safer and more sustainable
  • Be more vibrant and progressive
  • Improve services and be more representative.
Are you interested in the issues facing young people in our village? Do you want to do something about it? We are looking for someone:
  • To oversee the development of a Youth Council for FC/CH; to facilitate its work; encourage participation and help take forward the views of young people as expressed through the council
  • To link up with young people (aged  11-18) in FC/CH ; and with youth leaders; youth organisations, schools and other relevant bodies to set up and maintain a Youth Council, supporting young people in their participation.
  • To maintain close links with FCPC and facilitate good communications between the Council and local bodies
This would be a creative and potentially very rewarding role for the right person.
